Mission Leadership Residency Program

Preparing future spiritual care leaders

As a faith-based healthcare system founded on Adventist heritage and values, Adventist Health understands the vital role chaplains play in our mission of living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness, and hope. Our Mission and Spiritual Care Residency combines Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with on-site chaplaincy training to prepare individuals who will provide spiritual care in our hospitals and clinics every day.

Residency admission qualifications

To join Adventist Health’s Mission and Spiritual Care Residency, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology or an equivalent pre-seminary degree from a Seventh-day Adventist college or university
  • Master of Divinity degree or equivalent strongly preferred
  • One unit of CPE preferred but not required
