Learning and Understanding New Careers in Healthcare
LAUNCH provides individuals with a comprehensive look at career opportunities within healthcare. The program blends academic knowledge with real life experience, allowing participants to explore various healthcare professions while gaining hands-on skills in real-world settings.

By bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical application, participants are empowered to discover their direction, build confidence, and chart a meaningful pathway forward.
Tier 1: Explore
Tier 1 allows participants to explore various departments and careers through weekly hands-on programming. In “Explore,” you will engage in rotational hands-on learning activities and talk with panels of healthcare professionals. Some activities could include examining slides in the lab, suturing, CPR practice, as well as exploring non-clinical careers in healthcare. Areas of exploration may include outpatient clinics, laboratory, emergency medicine, medical surgical, maternal child, rehabilitation, pharmacy, nutrition, care management, finance, human resources, administration, and many more!
Explore is typically 10-12 weeks, one evening a week for 2.5 hours. This program is available to participants 16 years of age and older.
Tier 2: Engage
Participants will engage in immersive, hands-on experiences that build on foundational knowledge from Tier 1. Participants will have the opportunity to shadow Adventist Health professionals across both clinical and non-clinical settings. For example, observing a physician during patient rounds, accompanying a nurse in the operating room, learning from a human resources leader, or gaining insight into the daily work of a financial analyst.
These experiences are designed to deepen participants’ understanding of healthcare operations, teamwork, and patient-centered care while strengthening their readiness for future roles in the healthcare field.
Engage is typically 12-15 weeks plus 8 hours of in-person orientation. This will be completed through four-hour weekly shifts to a total of 48 hours. This is limited to 18 years of age and older who have previously completed Tier 1: Explore.
Tier 3: Experience
Tier 3 allows participants to experience deep immersion in one department aligned with career goals through kinesthetic learning activities. In “Experience,” individuals will be assigned a mentor in either a clinical or non-clinical setting aligned with their career goals. Examples of kinesthetic learning activities in Tier 3 clinical settings could include wayfinding, patient navigation, patient activity carts, and patient companionship. Non-clinical settings could include assisting in a community health needs assessment, community event outreach, rounding with patient experience or guest services staff, and participating in an environment of care safety walkthrough.
Experience is typically 12-20 weeks plus 16 hours of in-person orientation. This will be completed through a minimum of four-hour weekly shifts to a total of 76 hours and will also include a capstone project. This is limited to 18 years of age and older who have previously completed Tier 1: Explore and Tier 2: Engage.
