Dr. Terry Johnsson Appointed Chaplain for Royal Rosarians

Adventist Health Portland is proud to celebrate Dr. Terry Johnsson, our Vice President for Mission Integration, who has been appointed as Chaplain for the Royal Rosarians, the official greeters and goodwill ambassadors for the City of Portland. Johnsson is known throughout Adventist Health Portland and the greater community as “Dr. Terry.”

The Royal Rosarians are known for their civic leadership and their role in representing Portland with kindness and hospitality both locally and abroad. As Chaplain, Dr. Terry will offer spiritual guidance, support, and encouragement to the Rosarians as they carry out their community service and ceremonial duties.

Dr. Terry was knighted as a Royal Rosarian in 2022, an honor given to local dignitaries and friends from around the world, recognized for service, hospitality, and community spirit of Portland. Becoming the organization’s chaplain affirms his lifelong commitment to servant leadership and his passion for bringing people together through compassion, hope, and faith. His influence extends far beyond our hospital walls—touching the hearts of those he serves both within Adventist Health and throughout our community.

“It is my privilege and joy to meet the spiritual needs of the Royal Rosarians and their 112-year mission to uplift and support our community,” says Dr. Terry. “I am honored to serve these incredible individuals and further our mission for Portland.”

For nearly a decade, Dr. Terry has provided integral leadership as Adventist Health Portland’s Vice President for Mission Integration. In this role he oversees spiritual care, chaplaincy services and provides a strong commitment to community partners and organizations, ensuring Adventist Health delivers on its mission, “Living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope,” in practical and meaningful ways for our community. Dr. Terry is a decorated serviceman, a veteran of the United States Air Force and former member of the President’s Honor Guard. A Portland native, Dr. Terry now continues his legacy of service back in his hometown.
