Adventist Health Portland’s physical therapists believe in teaming with you and your physician to meet your goals for greater physical functionality. We are also passionate about staying on top of the latest clinical research to make sure we are using evidence-based techniques and modalities to help you achieve your goals.

A range of approaches, tailored to you

Our patients come to us for a lot of different reasons. If you are coping with an injury, chronic pain, or reduced mobility, talk with your healthcare provider and ask if physical therapy would help. Our physical therapists focus on helping you reduce pain, avoid or recover from injury, and maintain or improve your mobility. We do this by using a number of methods, including:

  • Therapeutic exercises and procedures
  • Manual joint and soft-tissue mobilization
  • Aquatic therapy
  • Gait/balance training
  • Mechanical diagnosis and therapy (MDT)
  • Augmented soft-tissue mobilization (ASTYM)

Issues we treat

Our skilled, experienced and caring staff enjoy helping you improve how you feel. And we care about all of you — your whole self, not just your body. That’s why it’s important to us to get to know you, to understand your life and lifestyle, and to get your input to create your individualized treatment plan. Among the issues we treat are:

  • Orthopedic, sport, running, and work injuries
  • Post-surgical therapy, including fractures, amputations, total joint replacements, ACL repairs, and rotator cuff repairs
  • Neurological disorders
  • Balance and vestibular disorders
  • Chronic pain
  • Degenerative joint and spine disease

How can physical therapy help you?

We all have things we want and need to do — from holding down a job to enjoying a favorite sport or hobby. But injuries or illnesses can sometimes get in the way of our goals. They can even make it hard to do life on our own. That’s where physical therapy comes in.
