Sep 22, 2024

Adventist Health's president and CEO, Kerry L. Heinrich, joined Dr. Drew Pinsky on his show "Health Uncensored" to discuss health equity and highlight the incredible care Adventist Health White Memorial provides its community. The show, hosted by Dr. Drew, explores the latest developments in health and medicine, offering insights and practical health solutions through conversations with leading experts.
In this episode, longtime Adventist Health supporter and boxing champion, Oscar De La Hoya, shared his personal experience with Adventist Health.
"My mom hit us with bombshell news that she had cancer, and she only had literally a couple of months to live," shared Oscar. He explains that they were immediately embraced when they walked through the doors of Adventist Health White Memorial. "This was pre-Olympics, pre-fame, but they treated us like family. It doesn't matter if you're a boxer, a fighter, or an actor (...), they care for you."
Kerry shared how Adventist Health operates in both rural and urban communities and has unique opportunities to care for patients and the surrounding populations.
"We know that social and economic factions define 80 percent of a person's health, while just 20 percent of health status is shaped by medical care," explains Kerry. "Over the years, we've established programs across our system to proactively meet the needs of these community members — whether or not they are our patients."
