Comprehensive rehabilitation services, activities and technologies
Acute rehabilitation differs from the traditional skilled nursing facility by offering an extra level of care designed for patients who need an intensive, coordinated approach to overcome their new challenges. In our unit, patients spend a majority of the day out of bed participating in therapy or social activities.
Patients who come to our program can expect:
- On-site diagnostic testing and specialist consultations, ensuring comprehensive healthcare support and emergent response if needed
- In-person visits by the rehabilitation physician at least five days a week
- A minimum of three hours of therapy per day, six to seven days a week
- One-on-one therapy sessions
- Family and caregiver training and education throughout the stay
- Meals in the patient dining room for social dining and therapeutic training
- Access to a beautiful healing garden
- State-of-the-art technology, such as Dynavision™ for the treatment of visual and attention deficits and Bioness™ electrical stimulation for the recovery of arm and leg function
The admissions process
Referrals are often made by hospital case managers, physicians, therapists or family members and friends. Our admissions team will support the process moving forward, including working with the admitting physician and patient insurance.
To qualify for admission, the patient must:
- Be diagnosed by a physician with a condition or deficit requiring an acute rehabilitation program
- Be medically stable
- Require at least two or more therapies (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or speech therapy)
- Be able to tolerate a minimum of three hours of therapy per day
