These experiences span the full three years of residency, reinforcing clinical skills, and preparing residents for independent practice.

Curriculum components include:

  • Adolescent Medicine
  • Behavioral Health
  • Continuity Obstetrics
  • Cultural Competency
  • Ethics in Medicine
  • Outpatient Continuity Clinic
  • Health Systems Management

  • Population & Community Health
  • Outpatient Procedures
  • Scholarly & Research Activity
  • Sports Medicine
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Care
  • Resident Wellness & Resilience
  • Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)

These longitudinal threads are embedded across rotations and supported by faculty mentorship, didactic sessions, and hands-on experiences.

Each track offers customized electives and longitudinal mentorship designed to deepen expertise, foster leadership, and support career pathways in both academic and community settings.

Continuity clinic

Our residency operates on a Modified Clinic-First Model with a 3+1 schedule of three weeks of core rotations followed by one dedicated week in the continuity clinic. To ensure meaningful patient-provider relationships and ongoing care, residents are also scheduled for one continuity clinic session during most rotation weeks outside of the dedicated clinic week. This structure allows residents to build and maintain their own patient panels while developing competence in outpatient family medicine.

Curriculum strengths

Residents benefit from exposure to a wide range of in-office specialty clinics and services, including:

  • Dermatologic Procedures
  • Pediatrics
  • Psychiatry
  • Orthopedics
  • Women’s Health
  • Palliative Care

Additionally, residents train alongside compassionate, team-based nursing and ancillary staff who foster a supportive learning environment.

Serving a diverse community

Our Glendale-based clinic proudly serves a richly diverse patient population, including individuals from:

  • Latino
  • Armenian
  • Korean
  • Filipino and many other cultural backgrounds.

This diversity strengthens clinical training and enhances cultural competency as a core part of our curriculum.
