Essential diabetes tests and screenings

Diabetes tests and screenings help detect potential issues early, allowing for timely intervention. Regular screenings provide peace of mind, knowing that your diabetes is under control, or that you can prevent serious problems before they occur. With early detection, you can work closely with your healthcare team to create a plan that supports a healthier, more vibrant life. We provide the following tests and exams:

HbA1c test: This blood test measures your average blood sugar levels from the previous two or three months. It lets your doctor know how well your blood sugar is being controlled.

Blood pressure checks: Diabetes can lead to high blood pressure, which increases your risk of a stroke, or heart attack. Routine blood pressure checks help us keep your overall health in check.

Cholesterol test: Diabetes also increases your risk of heart disease. So, it’s important to have a blood test to check your cholesterol levels. If your LDL cholesterol is too high, we can prescribe medication to control it.

Foot exam: Diabetes can cause nerve damage and circulation problems in your feet, resulting in chronic wounds, or infections. Left untreated, feet may need to be amputated. Foot exams catch these problems so they can be treated.

Eye exam: Diabetes is a leading cause of permanent blindness. This exam is necessary to determine if high blood sugar has damaged the blood vessels in your eye or caused cataracts.

Kidney test: High blood sugar and blood pressure can damage the blood vessels in your kidneys, which can lead to decreased kidney function and kidney disease. It’s important to have annual tests to monitor your kidney health.
