Life outside work
Located where the fertile valley floor meets the recreation-rich Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges, Butte County exemplifies how seemingly contrasting characteristics — valleys and mountains, rural communities and urban centers, farms and cities — come together perfectly. Known for extensive agricultural bounty as well as an abundance of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, golfing and plenty of water sports on expansive Lake Oroville, Butte County is home to California State University – Chico and Butte College. Tehama County boasts an array of agricultural crops including olives, almonds, walnuts and hosts the highly popular Red Bluff Roundup each year, showcasing an extensive heritage of cattle ranches. The small town atmosphere where you can get to know your neighbors is a strength in this part of the state.
