Our comprehensive care includes a range of services to guide you through every step of your maternity journey, from prenatal education to postpartum support.
Labor and delivery
We have nine spacious labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum suites, each with either a garden or mountain view. Each suite includes a private bathroom with a labor tub, a couch-bed for a loved one, a mini-refrigerator, and storage for personal items. To ensure the best possible experience and a safe delivery for you and your baby, we offer:
- An experienced, licensed staff to ensure your comfort and safety throughout your labor experience.
- A personalized labor experience that respects your own vision for your labor. We will do our best to accommodate your preferences while ensuring the safety of you and your baby. View a sample birth plan that includes our standards of care.
- Pharmacological support including IV medication to take the edge off contractions, epidural anesthesia for comprehensive pain relief, and nitrous oxide for relief from anxiety and better relaxation..
- Nonpharmacological support including walking, water therapy, exercise balls, music, massage and relaxation techniques.
Postpartum support
Following your delivery, we prioritize bonding and support for both you and your baby. Our birthing suites are designed for your entire hospital stay, from labor through postpartum, allowing your baby to stay with you as long as they are stable. This practice encourages skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding, fostering an early and strong bond.
Visitors are welcome from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. for family-friendly support, with overnight accommodation for one additional adult.
Discharge times vary based on delivery type but typically happen within 24-72 hours. Before you leave, a nurse will review discharge instructions and provide a checklist for your return home. Please click on the appropriate links to view a copy of our discharge information or discharge patient journey checklist. You’ll also receive details for follow-up appointments for you and your baby, ensuring a smooth transition from hospital to home.
Breastfeeding support
We fully support a woman’s choice to breastfeed and recognize the lifelong health benefits for both the mother and her baby. Breast milk provides optimal nutrition, and breastfeeding reduces the risk of postpartum depression, cancers and other health conditions.
All our Birth Center nurses are trained in lactation support. Following your delivery, an internationally board-certified lactation consultant will visit you to answer questions and provide guidance. As a designated Baby-Friendly® USA hospital, we follow “The Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding,” ensuring you have the resources and support needed for a successful breastfeeding journey.
We also offer ongoing support through our lactation clinic. To schedule an appointment, please call our Pali Women’s clinic at 808-263-5433. Additionally, we host free Mommy & Me Huis, open to moms with babies up to 12 months old. These groups, led by trained lactation educators, provide a space for new mothers to connect, receive support, and ask questions. No registration required. For more guidance, explore our infant feeding guide.
Preparing for your delivery
Prior to your delivery, there are several steps you should take:
Schedule your prenatal care
Start by scheduling an appointment with one of our prenatal care providers.
Find a pediatrician
Since you’ll need a follow-up appointment for your baby before discharge, we recommend selecting a pediatric or family medicine provider in advance by using our convenient search tool.
Complete a pre-admission form
To streamline your arrival, we recommend completing a pre-admission form in advance. You can fill out our pre-admission form by using Adobe Acrobat Reader, print it, and mail it to our facility. Alternatively, you may register at your obstetrician’s office.
