Frequently asked questions
Learn more about behavioral health and our care.
What is behavioral health?
Behavioral health (which includes mental health) encompasses a broad spectrum of challenges that can be influenced by numerous factors such as past traumas, ongoing stressors, and life circumstances. These struggles can lead to distorted thinking patterns and overwhelming emotions, leaving you feeling isolated or misunderstood. Behavioral and mental health challenges can present as anxiety, depression, anger, hallucinations or suicidal thoughts, along with physical symptoms such as stomach pain, headaches or tremors. Behavioral health can also include harmful behavior such as substance abuse, addiction, self-harm, violence or abusing loved ones.
What is the difference between inpatient and outpatient care?
With inpatient care, you stay in the hospital overnight for a period of one day or more. This level of care is recommended for people suffering from severe mental health issues who require more intensive and structured support.
With outpatient care, you receive counseling at an office or clinic on a scheduled basis, and return home after your session. Outpatient care is for those with mild behavioral or mental health challenges, who can function in their life without danger to themselves or others.
We can help you decide which level of care is best for you or your loved ones.
