Spiritual Care
A faith-based approach to care
At Adventist Health Castle, we emphasize caring for the whole you, including your emotional and spiritual well-being. Our spiritual care team is here to support you and your family through challenging times, offering a compassionate, confidential space to reflect or speak with a chaplain. We also provide resources to help you with bereavement and managing the passing of a loved one.
Chaplain availability
A chaplain is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. After 4 p.m. and on weekends, a chaplain is on call for emergency assistance.
Bereavement support
The death of a loved one brings profound sorrow, affecting our daily lives, mind, body and soul. Grief can be frustrating, painful and isolating, leaving us unsure of what to do or where to find support.
Our bereavement guide offers information on how to heal, plan a service, manage various tasks and find support so you don’t have to go it alone.
Rapid response for stressful events
Patients, family members, volunteers, and healthcare team members can call a “Code Lavender” when a stressful event occurs in the hospital. Once initiated, a specially trained chaplain will deploy support to help those affected. The Code Lavender response team is accessible 24-hours per day, seven days per week. All Code Lavender interactions remain confidential.
Any situation that affects physical or emotional well-being could be a reason for a Code Lavender. Examples of situations might include:
To activate Code Lavender, contact the operator by calling 808-263-5500, or dial “0” from within Castle. Provide the recipient’s name, unit, and a brief description of the event. The operator will then discreetly notify the on-call chaplain, who will respond promptly to support those in need.
