Volunteering at Adventist Health Castle is a great way to get more out of life, whether it’s more involvement in your community, more fulfillment through giving back, or more work experience in healthcare. No matter what role you serve, you’ll be supporting our mission of living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope. Whether you're a teenager or a senior, you can make a difference in someone's life by volunteering with us.

Our volunteer opportunities

We offer a variety of volunteer roles along with a comprehensive orientation and training period in your specific area of interest. You’ll also be invited to our annual volunteer appreciation event and have access to complimentary flu shots, meals and more. We offer volunteer opportunities in the following areas:

  • Central supply
  • Helping hands (patient transport and wayfinding)
  • Laboratory
  • Mammography
  • Newspaper delivery
  • Nursing units
  • Special events
  • Spiritual care

Our volunteer requirements

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels. However, we do have some requirements to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff, and to comply with state and federal regulations and our hospital policies. Our requirements include:

  • You must be 16 years of age or older
  • You must commit to a minimum of four hours per week
  • Documentation of negative TB test through QuantiFERON blood draw administered by Adventist Health Castle employee health
  • If you have a history of positive TB, please provide a copy of chest x-ray results done within 3 years of your start date
  • Proof of appropriate immunizations as outlined on volunteer medical clearance form (i.e., MMR-Measles, mumps, and rubella). The volunteer medical clearance form will be provided to you upon a successful interview
  • Documentation of influenza vaccine
  • Documentation of COVID vaccine
  • Background checks will be conducted for volunteers that are 18 years or older. Social Security is required. Individuals who refuse to comply with this requirement will not be allowed to enroll in the program
  • If you are accepted into the program as a high school student (16 years or older), a valid, issued photo identification (school identification) will be required
  • Students 17 years or older are required to provide a valid, government-issued photo ID with your signature (i.e. unexpired driver's license, government issued identification card, military identification or passport)
