Community Care Shuttle

Putting compassion into motion

Banner Image

At Adventist Health, we believe healthcare begins long before a patient arrives at a clinic or hospital. In Mendocino County, one of the most significant barriers to accessing care is transportation. The Adventist Health Community Care Shuttle advances our commitment to equitable access, community benefit, and whole-person care by providing safe, reliable, and no-cost transportation for patients with demonstrated need traveling to eligible outpatient medical appointments.

Removing barriers. Restoring access. Strengthening community well-being.

We are first focusing on launching an 8 – 10 passenger ADA-compliant Community Care Shuttle serving We are first focusing on launching an 8 – 10 passenger ADA-compliant Community Care Shuttle serving Ukiah, Redwood Valley, and Willits. The shuttle will provide curb-to-curb transportation for patients traveling to outpatient appointments, diagnostic services, and related medical visits, in accordance with Adventist Health policies and applicable regulations.

Based on current outpatient volumes and conservative service modeling, the shuttle is expected to serve approximately 80 patients per week, helping reduce missed appointments and support continuity of care.

How the shuttle will improve health and well-being

Seniors, individuals with disabilities, and patients without reliable vehicles too often miss essential medical appointments. Preventive care is delayed. Chronic conditions go unmanaged. Follow-up visits are postponed — contributing to avoidable complications and increased emergency department utilization. Thankfully, the Community Care Shuttle will make an immediate impact by:

  • Removing transportation barriers that prevent timely care
  • Reducing missed appointments and avoidable complications
  • Creating a scalable foundation for broader countywide access
