Volunteers
You were made to make a difference
Volunteering at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley offers a meaningful way to enrich your life, whether through deeper community engagement, personal fulfillment from giving back, or gaining valuable healthcare experience. Whatever role you take on, you'll be helping support our mission to live God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope.
Volunteer opportunities
We have a range of volunteer opportunities for both adults and teens, allowing you to find a role that aligns with your interests. Learn more by clicking on an area of interest below.
Patient ambassador volunteers
Patient ambassador volunteers spend time visiting patients and supporting them about meal satisfaction, helping them understand room amenities, and simply providing the gift of time, and attention.
Gift shop volunteers
Gift shop volunteers help our patients, visitors, nurses, and doctors who come into our gift shop to purchase gifts, indulge their sweet tooth, or simply “take a break” from the day. Our gift shop volunteers exude the helpful and polite customer service that Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is known for.
Front desk volunteers
Front desk volunteers are responsible for making a good first impression for our hospital, and setting the tone for the caring environment visitors will experience while on campus. You will assist guests with directions, escort visitors to the appropriate department, and answer questions about the hospital.
Musician volunteers
Musicians have a unique skill that brings joy to patients and staff. If you play an instrument, we’d love to have you share your talent by playing in our waiting rooms and patient rooms.

Will I receive orientation and training?
Upon acceptance into our volunteer program, you will be provided with a general orientation, service-specific orientation, and training and benefits. Our orientation is designed to inspire you as you follow in the footsteps of our many wonderful volunteers.
What is the volunteer work environment like?
We provide volunteers with a supportive and caring environment where they are treated with respect and can thrive in their role. Many of our volunteers continue with us past their first year because they find the work and environment so personally rewarding, not only from the standpoint of giving back but also from the friendly relationships they develop with patients, staff members, and fellow volunteers. In addition to the personal and social benefits of volunteering, you’ll also receive free lunch at our cafeteria.
Can volunteering lead to a job?
While we don’t have a job placement program, the experience you gain while volunteering will certainly help in your pursuit of employment.
