Caring for you behind the scenes
Understanding how your body is functioning is key to getting and staying healthy. That’s where our lab services come in. Your care provider may order tests during annual check-ups or to get to the bottom of any health issues you are experiencing. Our laboratory staff is ready with advanced testing and quick turnarounds to ensure you get the best care in short order.
Comprehensive testing with reliable results
Our lab is equipped with advanced instruments that enable rapid and accurate analysis of various clinical tests. If you are having blood drawn, you can expect our phlebotomists to follow strict protocols for safety and precision, while treating you with kindness and a gentle touch. Our lab tests include:
When your results are ready, they will be provided to your doctor, who will then discuss them with you. Results for many tests are also viewable in the MyAdventistHealth patient portal.
What to know before your lab visit
Here are answers to a few questions you may have. If you have any additional questions, please give us a call.
Where and when can I take my blood test?
Blood tests are done at our lab on a walk-in basis. When you arrive at the hospital, first check in at the admitting office to the right of the front desk. Then you will be directed to the lab for your bloodwork.
Do I need a doctor’s order for a blood test?
You can request blood glucose (blood sugar), pregnancy and cholesterol tests yourself, but most other blood tests require written authorization from a physician, dentist, or nurse practitioner.
How do I prepare for a fasting blood test?
A fasting blood test enables technologists to analyze your blood without the influence of food or drink. If your doctor tells you to fast for your blood test, do not eat or drink anything except water for 12 to 14 hours before you have your blood drawn. Most people find it convenient to have their blood drawn before breakfast.
Some tests that require fasting include:
- Fasting blood sugar
- Triglycerides
- Lipid panel
- Glucose tolerance
There are additional tests that require fasting. Your doctor will tell you if you should fast before your test. If you're not sure, please call.
