Volunteering at Adventist Health St. Helena is a great way to get more out of life, whether it’s more involvement in your community, more fulfillment through giving back, or more work experience in healthcare. No matter what role you serve, you’ll be supporting our mission of living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope.

Volunteer opportunities

We offer a variety of volunteer roles along with a comprehensive orientation and training period in your specific area of interest. Our volunteers are included in all hospital events, applicable educational presentations, and are guests of the hospital at an annual volunteer appreciation luncheon. We offer volunteer opportunities in the following areas:

Cancer Center support
Gift shop
Non-clinical/business support
Patient greeter
Patient transportation/discharges

Volunteer requirements

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels who want to make a difference. However, we do have some requirements to comply with state regulations and hospital policies. To become a volunteer, we ask that you:

Age eligibility: 18 years and older; high school students must be 16 years and older with a signed parental/guardian consent form
Submit the online application, completed orientation packet, and onboarding documents
Provide vaccination records, including current COVID-19, and influenza vaccines
Submit a valid photo ID, a selfie for your volunteer badge, and a signed St. Helena Hospital photo release form
Background check: required for adult applicants only
Health screening: complete a TB screening (provided at no cost)
Volunteer commitment: minimum of one 4-hour shift twice per month
Physical and behavioral standards: must meet the physical and behavioral expectations of the role
Training: completion of new volunteer orientation and training is required
