Our sleep lab

Our sleep lab is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the right team and technology for diagnosing sleep disorders. Whatever is troubling your sleep, our team can help you get back to a solid night’s rest. We specialize in diagnosing and treating a range of sleep-related problems, including:

  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Parasomnias, such as sleepwalking
  • Sleep apnea
  • Snoring
  • Other sleep-related disorders

Sleep disorders are health hazards

Many people think their sleep problem is just an annoyance, but people with sleep disorders are at risk for developing conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart problems. Sleep apnea, a disorder that causes breathing problems during sleep, can prevent the body from getting enough oxygen, cause excessive daytime fatigue and moodiness, and lead to stroke or heart failure. Sleep disorders can also cause depression or anxiety, while also impacting your quality of life and safety. Thankfully, the help provided by our sleep specialists has very high rates of success.

Signs you may have sleep disorder

Different sleep disorders have different symptoms. If you experience any of the following symptoms on a consistent basis, we recommend seeking care.

  • Loud snoring
  • Holding your breath while asleep
  • Gasping, choking, or snorting while asleep
  • Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • Restless legs
  • Extreme fatigue or sleepiness during the day
  • An irregular sleep and wake cycle

How we diagnose your sleep disorder

Depending on your symptoms, we will use one or more testing options that involve monitoring your sleep to help us diagnose your condition.

  • Diagnostic polysomnography: a test that monitors brain waves, breathing, heart rate, oxygen levels, eye and leg movements, and body position. This can be done in our sleep lab or in-home for patients who are unable to visit us.
  • Titration polysomnography: a test that helps us uncover sleep-related breathing disorders.
  • Home overnight oximetry monitoring: a simple, painless test used to measure the level of oxygen in your blood. It involves wearing a small clip-like device on your finger while you sleep.

Treatment options

Once we diagnose the type and severity of your disorder, we can recommend treatment solutions or refer you to a provider who can treat you. Solutions might include one or more of the following:

  • Lifestyle changes
  • Prescription medication
  • Natural over-the-counter products such as melatonin
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Relaxation techniques or meditation
  • Light therapy
  • A CPAP machine for sleep apnea
  • Oral appliances or mouthpieces
  • Surgery
