Volunteers in this role assist with wayfinding, escort visitors to their destinations, support security, deliver flowers to patients, and provide helpful information to guests. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a high level of accountability, and a commitment to creating a warm and supportive environment for patients, families, and staff. Cancer Center volunteer

The Rideout Cancer Center, in affiliation with UC Davis Health System, provides comprehensive cancer care and support services. Volunteers play a vital role by assisting social workers and nurse educators with support groups, educational classes, clerical tasks, and special events.

We also welcome cancer survivors to volunteer as Peer Navigators—a unique opportunity for those who have been cancer-free for at least two years to support newly diagnosed patients. Peer Navigators are thoughtfully matched with patients of similar age, gender, and diagnosis, offering guidance, companionship, and encouragement through phone calls, treatment visits, or even attending doctor appointments upon request of a patient. Cancer Center volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Spiritual care volunteer

With our unique focus on physical, emotional and spiritual healing, the spiritual care volunteer program is designed to provide volunteers with introductory skills in ministry. Under the direct supervision of Francisco Cross, our Director of Mission and Spiritual Care, volunteers will visit patients and family members to provide emotional and spiritual support to those suffering through an illness or injury.

Through the work that our volunteers do and the comfort they bring - our volunteers truly embody our mission of "living God's love," while demonstrating our values, integrity, compassion, respect and excellence.

Applicants will be required to complete spiritual care volunteer training. Please connect with Francisco at CrossFJ@ah.org if you have a suggestion about someone wonderful who may want to volunteer.
