Social Media Participation Policy
Guidelines for participation in Adventist Health social media
Adventist Health encourages our community to participate on our social media accounts by asking questions, commenting, liking, tagging and sharing honest feedback while remaining respectful of other users. We look forward to engaging with your comments, likes and shares. If you have a concern about any posted content, or about any content that has been removed, please e-mail SocialMedia@ah.org.
The privacy and security of your information is important to us. We ask that you do not share protected health information (PHI) through direct messages or on public posts. Our interactions on social media are required to abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). We do not comment on patients’ medical status on social media as we are prohibited from publicly disclosing any information about our patients regardless of whether it has been disclosed by the patient’s family or friends. We are not able to act on behalf of a patient based on information shared by a third party without specific consent from the patient.
Participant guidelines
Information posted on any of our social media channels should not be considered personal medical advice. Due to legal protections for patient and personal privacy, we will not respond to posts that address individual health concerns. Please direct those concerns to your personal healthcare provider. If you need to find a provider, visit AdventistHealth.org/Doctors.
If you are an Adventist Health patient with a concern, please contact our team at MyExperience@ah.org. To file a compliance or privacy complaint with Adventist Health, call 888-366-3833 or email us at CorpComp@ah.org.
Comments you see on our social media channels are the opinions of the individual users and not necessarily those of Adventist Health. Our associates make reasonable efforts to regularly monitor our social media accounts and respond to posts in a timely manner; however, we may not respond to every post, comment or message. Comments that are deemed to be spam, threatening, inflammatory, offensive, harassment, obscene, sexually explicit or are personally attacking another individual may be deleted. Posts that contain names of specific individuals within Adventist Health as part of a complaint, concern, question or compliment may be removed to protect the privacy of individuals.
Adventist Health is not responsible for any content posted by other users on any of our social media channels. Liking or commenting on other users’ content does also not equal an endorsement of that user or company. Our social media content may contain links to other social media channels or websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or opinions expressed in such websites, and such websites are not investigated, monitored or checked for accuracy or completeness by us. Inclusion of any linked website, or liking, commenting on or sharing posts on our social media channels does not imply approval or endorsement of the content. At times, there may also be social media profiles using our name that are not managed by our team. When these are discovered, we will work to remove them if possible.
