Leading Insurers Honor Adventist Health Portland for Quality, Safe Bariatric Care, and Outcomes
Adventist Health Portland is pleased to announce it has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® bariatric facility for treating people living with extreme or extreme obesity. This is the program’s third such recognition, having previously received the Blue Distinction from Blue Cross Blue Shield and Center of Excellence Recognition from UnitedHealthcare.
“Receiving these significant validations is a proud moment for Adventist Health Portland,” says Ryland Stucke, MD, bariatric surgeon. “It highlights our consistent focus on clinical excellence, patient safety, and compassionate care. Our bariatric team works tirelessly to help patients achieve meaningful, lasting improvements in their health, and this recognition reinforces our mission to serve and support every individual who entrusts us with their care.”
A facility earns Institute of Quality® status by consistently delivering safe, effective care. Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of that care available to its members. This helps them identify facilities that meet their special health care needs.
Earning a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery by Blue Cross Blue Shield means a facility meets strict, evidence-based standards for patient safety, outcomes, and expertise in bariatric procedures such as gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.
The Optum/UnitedHealthcare Bariatric Center of Excellence designation is awarded to hospitals and providers that demonstrate expertise in bariatric procedures, deliver safe and effective care, and show positive patient outcomes.
Each of these recognitions identifies Adventist Health Portland as a facility delivering high-quality support before, during and after surgery in ways that help patients achieve long term success in their weight loss journey.
Adventist Health Portland achieves successful outcomes for patients by developing personalized treatment plans that include multiple medication and surgery options with support from a team of dietitians, physical therapists and psychologists.
