United by Heart: Strengthening Cardiac Care in the Hanford Community
Jan 5, 2026
Nearly 300 people gathered for a sold-out Heart to Heart Gala at Tachi Palace Resort — and what an extraordinary evening it was. As Lauren Day, Philanthropy Executive, Adventist Health Central California Network, reflects on the night, she is filled with gratitude and hope. Gratitude for a community that shows up with generosity and compassion, and hope for the future of heart care in the Central Valley.
This year’s gala was more than a beautiful evening with an enchanting masquerade theme. It was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together when we unite around a shared purpose: ensuring advanced, lifesaving cardiac care is available close to home at Adventist Health Hanford.
A celebration of community and compassion
The evening began with a lively social hour, where guests mingled and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers. Dinner and dessert followed with attendees receiving opportunities to bid on exciting auction items, such as unforgettable experiences and getaways. The atmosphere was warm and joyful, setting the tone for a night rooted in connection and generosity.
One of the most meaningful moments of the night was recognizing three expert cardiologists who have helped shape the cardiac care program at Adventist Health Hanford into the center of excellence it is today: Frank Gavini, MD; H. Raj Reddy, MD; and Ashok Verma, MD. Their dedication, skill, and commitment to this community have saved countless lives, and we are deeply grateful for the legacy they continue to build.
We were also honored to present the Willard S. Bridwell Humanitarian Award to Nileema Gavini, whose compassion, generosity, and service beautifully embody the spirit of this award. Nileema’s impact reaches far beyond hospital walls — touching lives through education, mentorship, community service, and unwavering kindness. Her example inspires all of us to lead with heart.
Finally, guests were treated to live entertainment from dueling pianos. The musicians entertained the crowd and generously donated 100 percent of their tips to the Cardiac Cath Lab Campaign. Their contribution, like so many others that night, directly supports the expansion of cardiac catheterization services that will dramatically increase our ability to care for patients.
Why this work matters
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, and the need for advanced cardiac care in our region continues to grow. Currently, Adventist Health Hanford serves hundreds of cardiac patients each year. With the expansion of our cardiac cath labs, we will increase our capacity to care for not just hundreds — but thousands of patients every year.
This expansion means faster access to care, fewer transfers out of the community, earlier intervention, and improved outcomes for our families, friends, and neighbors.
Throughout the evening, guests heard powerful patient stories that brought this mission to life. These stories remind us that behind every statistic is a person whose life can be changed by timely, expert heart care.
A community united in generosity
The generosity in the room was truly overwhelming. During the Fund-A-Need paddle raise, guests gave wholeheartedly to support the Cardiac Cath Lab Campaign. A particularly moving moment came when Kiran Reddy, MD, announced a $500,000 gift in honor of his father, Dr. H. Raj Reddy — a testament to both family legacy and deep belief in the mission.
Because of supporters like the Keller Family, Tos Family, Valley Strong Credit Union, and so many others, we are now closer than ever to our $10 million campaign goal. Every gift, large and small, brings us one step closer to transforming heart care for our region.
More than a fundraiser
As the evening came to a close, one thing was abundantly clear: the Heart to Heart Gala was more than a fundraiser. It was a gathering of people united by purpose — people who believe that high-quality, compassionate heart care should be available right here in our community.
To everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, donated or supported this event in any way: thank you! Your presence, energy and generosity made this night unforgettable, and your impact will be felt for generations to come.
