Nutritional Care
Helping you eat better to live healthier
Proper nutrition is key to staying healthy, managing chronic conditions, and recovering from illnesses. Our nutritional services team is committed to meeting the nutritional needs of our patients and community members. Our dietitians support us in the treatment and prevention of different diseases using medical nutrition therapy (MNT), while also guiding individuals in making behavioral, and dietary changes that can improve long-term habits and health.
Nutritional service offerings
Our team provides a range of services for different needs. From developing meal plans for patients in recovery to offering counseling and classes outside of our hospital, we’ve got you covered.
Inpatient nutritional services
Our inpatient nutritional services department is dedicated to meeting the unique dietary needs of each patient in our hospital. Our medical nutrition therapy (MNT) ensures that wholesome, well-balanced meals play a vital role in their treatment, and recovery. We take pride in delivering high-quality meal services and snacks that adhere to all therapeutic guidelines while being both appealing and delicious. By accommodating specific preferences and dietary requirements, we enhance patient satisfaction and overall experience. Our friendly staff regularly engages with patients to discuss the menu options, while registered dietitians are available to provide expert guidance, nutrition support, and education.
Outpatient nutritional services
Our outpatient nutrition and diabetes education program provides individual and group education to help patients make smart dietary and lifestyle choices that can positively impact their health and prevent disease-related crises. These services are especially valuable for patients with diabetes, heart disease, or other chronic conditions that are affected by one’s diet. Our community education classes and appointments with a dietitian or diabetes educator are free services provided by Adventist Health Mendocino Coast.
Individual counseling visits
Individual visits with a registered dietitian or diabetes educator are offered free of charge through a referral. Patients may contact our scheduling office at 707-456-3132 if assistance is needed in obtaining a referral.
