Straight A’s place Adventist Health Glendale among the safest hospitals in the state and nation
Adventist Health Glendale was awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade today for the 19th consecutive time by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization. This accolade recognizes Adventist Health Glendale as one of only 38 hospitals in the country to earn an “A” Grade continuously since 2015 and one of seven in California.
Adventist Health Glendale is the only hospital in our community, including Glendale, Pasadena, La Cañada, Burbank, and Eagle Rock, with an “A” rating.
“We are extremely proud to have earned our 19th consecutive Leapfrog Grade ‘A’ for Hospital Safety,” expressed Dr. Kingman Ho, Chief Medical Officer for the 515-bed tertiary care campus. “This achievement underscores our dedication to delivering world-class care that our patients expect and deserve. Our physicians, nurses, and every member of our care team strive to provide the safest, highest-quality care possible, every day, for every patient.”
“When a patient goes to a hospital, there should never be anticipation of an avoidable complication or safety event. The extraordinary commitment and singular operational focus to achieve this at Adventist Health Glendale is truly unique among hospitals, as demonstrated in earning and sustaining 19 straight ‘A’ ratings,” explained Dr. Ho.
The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A” through “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries, and infections that can harm and even kill. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“Everyone who works and volunteers at Adventist Health Glendale should so be proud. This organization has made a clear and consistent effort to protect patients from harm. This is reflected in the outstanding and remarkable distinction of earning continuous ‘A’ Safety Grades nine years on in a row,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I congratulate everyone at Adventist Health Glendale for their national example and unwavering dedication to protecting patients from preventable harm.”
