About Us
Community Benefit
Improving the lives of our community members
As a nonprofit health system, our calling is to provide a public service to help improve the lives of our friends and neighbors along the Central California coastline. To live out this calling and responsibility, we invest in understanding our community’s health needs. We take this information and use it to inform each step of our community benefit work.
Making an impact for our community
Adventist Health began conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) in 2024 after acquiring the previously for-profit hospitals operated by Tenet Health. Our first report will be published in 2025, with subsequent reports issued every three years. After our communities’ voices, stories and priority areas are reflected in the CHNA, our next step is to complete a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), or as we refer to it, a Community Health Implementation Strategy (CHIS).
Together with Adventist Health leaders, local public health officials, community-based organizations, medical providers, students, parents, and members of selected underserved, low-income, and minority populations, Adventist Health intentionally develops a strategic plan to address the needs of our community.
