Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)
HBOT is an advanced method of wound treatment that uses pressurized oxygen to speed healing and fight infection.
How it works
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen while lying or sitting in a pressurized chamber. This treatment increases oxygen in your bloodstream, improves circulation, fights infection, and stimulates new tissue growth. Treatments usually last 60–90 minutes and are painless.
What to expect
Before beginning treatment, your provider will review your medications, clothing guidelines, and any special instructions. You’ll change into hospital garments that are 100% cotton and be asked to remove jewelry, hearing aids, and any personal items.
During your session, you will lie or sit comfortably in the chamber. Many patients read, listen to music, or watch TV. Our staff stays with you the entire time and communicates through an intercom system to ensure you are comfortable and safe.
