At Adventist Health, we understand the importance of comfort, dignity, and support during life’s most challenging times. Our palliative care services are designed to meet the unique needs of patients and their families with compassion and respect.

Providing a more comfortable experience during treatment

Palliative care is a medical specialty that helps patients at any stage of a serious illness manage pain and distress while supporting overall well-being. Unlike hospice, which is reserved for those in the final stages of life, palliative care is appropriate at any time during advanced illness.

Our palliative care teams provide compassionate, expert support for patients and their loved ones, helping you live with comfort, dignity, and peace of mind.

A collaborative team of providers

Our specially trained caregivers partner with you and your family to provide physical, psychological, social and spiritual support, ensuring care is tailored to your unique situation. In addition to your doctor and other caregivers, your palliative care team may include:

  • A specially trained physician who focuses on pain and symptom management
  • A nurse specialist who coordinates day-to-day care and regularly communicates with the you and your family
  • A social worker, skilled in interpersonal communication, who can help you with tools to cope with the lifestyle changes that can occur with illness
  • A chaplain, who offers spiritual and emotional support, according to your faith and individual needs

A range of benefits

No matter what stage of serious illness you are in, palliative care can benefit you and your family and make for a more comfortable experience. Working closely with your primary doctor, our palliative care team provides a range of services that can help you experience:
