Comprehensive infusion services
We offer a variety of infusion therapies for different needs, including:
Chemotherapy for cancer treatment
Chemotherapy is a type of infusion therapy that uses drugs to destroy cancer cells and relieve pain. It is one of the most common, clinically-proven treatments used to fight cancer, and is available by appointment at our AIS Cancer Center in Bakersfield. Learn more about our chemotherapy treatment below.
How chemotherapy is administered
Chemotherapy is delivered intravenously by a catheter inserted into your arm, hand, or chest. Patients sit comfortably in a recliner chair during the treatment, which typically lasts between 30 and 90 minutes depending on your needs.
Our safe, comfortable environment
At our infusion therapy center, we’ve taken every measure to ensure your comfort and safety. Our open rooms are suffused with natural sunlight and furnished with comfortable chairs for all body shapes and sizes. You can chat with others during your treatment, or use a complementary iPad to watch shows, browse the internet, check email, or engage via social media. If you prefer more privacy, we have rooms that are closed off and quiet. No matter which room you choose, your nurse is just an arm's length away.
Your family can wait in our comfortable guest area until your appointment is complete, or they can be with you in the infusion room during your treatment. Should you need help with transportation, we can also arrange that so you can get home safely.
Your chemotherapy team
Our infusion center is staffed by skilled nurses who are highly trained in chemotherapy administration. We also have the only community-based, board-certified oncology pharmacist in the area working in our pharmacy to prepare your medications.
Our team works closely with your oncologist on your chemotherapy plan. In many cases, your oncologist’s office is just down the hall from our infusion center, in case a quick consultation is needed.
