Our approach and solutions

Our goal is to provide comprehensive care that helps you lose weight, restore confidence, and improve your overall health. We understand that weight management is about more than numbers on a scale; it’s about nurturing your body, mind, and spirit. Learn more about our approach and solutions below.

Personalized treatment plans

Every patient is unique, and so is your plan. We begin with a thorough evaluation of your health and mindset, then design a plan tailored to your goals, needs, and preferences. We walk you through every aspect of your plan and answer all of your questions. We want you to be as confident and informed as we are moving forward.

Prescription weight loss medications

Revolutionary new pharmaceuticals have proven to be effective solutions for those who need to lose weight for health reasons and have struggled with finding success through diet and exercise. We can determine if you qualify for these medications, walk you through your options, and authorize prescriptions. We will also provide ongoing assessments and help with everything from managing any side effects to adjusting your medication. Nutrition planning and physical activity may also be recommended to augment your medication plan.

Bariatric surgery

Bariatric surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that reduces the size and structure of your stomach in order to decrease appetite and food intake. Bariatric surgery has been around since the 1960s, and has been clinically proven to help people lose weight and maintain a healthy weight throughout their lives. Since it is minimally invasive, you will have minimal scarring and a faster recovery time than with open surgery.

That said, we don’t rush our patients into surgery. In fact, you will have to meet certain criteria to even be considered. However, if you and your team determine that surgery is the best solution for you, your surgeon will discuss your procedural options. We offer two types of bariatric surgery — gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy — each with their own advantages. Your surgeon will walk you through each one and help you decide which approach is best for you. Rest assured, our surgeons are highly skilled and experienced in performing all types of bariatric surgery.

Bariatric surgery is most successful when accompanied by changes in eating habits and physical activity, so nutrition planning and physical activity guidance will likely be part of your treatment plan. Following surgery, we’ll monitor your progress to make sure you’re on track for meaningful, lasting change.

We also offer bariatric revision procedures for individuals who have experienced problems with their surgery or results from another provider.

Comprehensive health management

Because weight often impacts conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea, our team closely monitors and manages your overall health all along the way.

Care for the whole you

Losing weight involves both your body and mindset. You may lack confidence or feel discouraged at times. You will need patience and fortitude, even with surgery, because the best results also require exercise and good nutrition. That’s why Adventist Health cares for the whole you: body, mind, and spirit. Our team will provide the encouragement and support you need throughout your journey. We also offer support groups with other patients as well as mental health resources to help you deal with any emotional issues, influences, or triggers that may stand in the way of your success.
