'A' Safety Grades Across the Central Valley
Nov 13, 2025
Demonstrating excellence in patient care and safety, all eligible Adventist Health hospitals across the Central Valley earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. The ‘A’ grades were awarded to:
- Adventist Health Selma
- Adventist Health Hanford
- Adventist Health Tulare
- Adventist Health Delano
- Adventist Health Bakersfield
- Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield
“Earning an ‘A’ grade for patient safety across all six of our eligible hospitals in the Central Valley is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the dedication of our providers, nurses, and entire care teams,” said Ghassan Jamaleddine, MD, Chief Medical Officer for the Adventist Health Central California Network. “It means that no matter where you live in the Central Valley, from Selma to Bakersfield, you can walk into any Adventist Health hospital knowing you’re in the safest, most capable hands. Our communities deserve nothing less.”
Adventist Health Reedley and Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley did not participate in the survey because there was not enough publicly available data to determine a safety grade this period.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to the hospitals across the Adventist Health Central California Network, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
