Nursing Careers

Empowering nurses to grow, lead, and excel at quality care

At Adventist Health in Central California, we believe nurses are the heart of exceptional care. Our supportive environment, professional growth opportunities, and commitment to collaboration make this a place where registered nurses (RNs) can thrive. Nurses are empowered to lead, learn, and make a meaningful impact.

Professional Practice Model

Our Professional Practice Model shapes the way we care for patients, our community, and each other. Grounded by our heritage and driven by our mission — we are called to live God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope.

Our Professional Governance structure creates the dedicated time and space for our Professional Practice Model to come alive and drive excellence from the bedside.

Together, these councils work to create an environment where evidence-based practice, collaboration, and compassion guide everything we do.

Professional governance: a collaborative approach

Professional governance is a collaborative shared decision-making model where nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary partners come together to shape decisions about patient care, practice standards, and professional development.

  • Frontline-led, leader-supported: Nurses closest to the patient lead improvement efforts with leadership support.
  • Unit-based councils: Each of our eight hospitals and 130+ clinics has councils that address patient experience, caregiver workflow, and team collaboration.
  • Team-based solutions: Nurses partner with pharmacy, respiratory therapy, nutrition services, chaplains, and others to create the best environment for patients and staff.
  • Evidence-based decision-making: Every change is rooted in best practices, national guidelines, and research to ensure lasting results.

Clinical excellence coordinating committee

The Clinical Excellence Council brings together unit-based committee chairs, professional practice leaders, and clinical executives to drive meaningful improvements. This group:

  • Prioritizes projects and initiatives
  • Coordinates resources and reduces redundancy
  • Removes barriers to frontline progress
  • Supports clinical leaders in achieving sustainable outcomes

Growing in the nursing profession

We invest in our nurses by providing tools, education, and opportunities for advancement.

Wellness and resilience

We recognize that caring for others begins with caring for ourselves. Our wellness and resilience initiatives provide support, resources, and space for nurses to recharge — helping them stay strong, balanced, and fulfilled in their work. From peer-to-peer support following critical events, online resources through Thrive Works, downshifting stations, and team outings — we work hard and enjoy spending time together.

Nursing in the community

Our nurses extend their expertise beyond the hospital walls through community education, outreach, and wellness initiatives. From health screenings to patient education, nurses play a vital role in promoting healthier lives across Central California.
