Donors Fund Key Equipment

Thanks to our generous family of donors, Adventist Health Urology is caring for more patients than ever before.

Early in 2021, gifts to the Greatest Need Fund allowed the clinic to purchase key equipment, including an ultrasound machine and two cystoscopy units.

“Cystoscopy and ultrasound equipment are essential tools in urologic surgery,” explained urologist Lincoln Maynes, MD. “Cystoscopy units use fiber optic cameras to evaluate the bladder for various diseases, and in-house ultrasound equipment allows for a full range of imaging without having to schedule patients for additional appointments outside the clinic.”

Having these resources at Adventist Health Sonora Urology is not only more convenient for patients but also crucial for promptly identifying potentially life-threatening conditions.

“There are many patient examples of benign and cancerous conditions that the cystoscopy and ultrasound equipment have helped us identify earlier in the process,” said Dr. Maynes. “This has allowed us to intervene before the condition has progressed for better patient outcomes.”

In the last eleven months alone, the urology clinic has provided care for approximately 1,000 new patients.
