Finding Strength in Recovery with the Acute Physical Rehab Team

A simple, everyday moment can change everything. For Judy Green, it was a fall at home that led to a serious hip fracture and an unexpected journey toward healing, resilience, and gratitude.

After slipping in her bathroom, Judy was taken to the emergency room, where she was quickly diagnosed and admitted for surgery. What followed was the beginning of a recovery process that would test her strength but also introduce her to a team that would help her regain it.

Following her surgery, Judy faced an important decision about where to begin rehabilitation. With options available, including facilities in Stockton and Lodi, she chose to stay close to home at Adventist Health Lodi Memorial. It was a decision she says made all the difference in her recovery.

From the moment Judy arrived at the Acute Physical Rehabilitation unit, something felt different. The APR team stood out immediately for their compassion, attentiveness, and commitment to her care. “The APR team was absolutely wonderful,” she shared. “Everyone was helpful, pleasant, and kind.”

Her experience was shaped not just by treatment, but by the people around her. Judy describes how the team consistently went above and beyond to ensure she felt comfortable, supported, and encouraged throughout her stay. “They did everything they could to make me comfortable and helped me with anything I wanted, with a smile and a very pleasant attitude,” she said.

For Judy, the APR team provided more than rehabilitation. They created an environment where she could rebuild both physically and emotionally. Their encouragement helped her regain strength, manage pain, and restore her confidence.

“This group of people is so wonderful,” she said. “They helped relieve my pain, gave me strength, and helped boost my confidence.”

Recovery after a serious injury can feel overwhelming, but Judy found reassurance in the consistent care she received. She describes the team as focused, compassionate, and dedicated to every aspect of patient well-being. “They cared for you in every aspect,” Judy said. “And I would give this place the best rating I could.”

Her advice to others who may need rehabilitation care reflects the impact the APR team had on her experience. “Don’t worry if you have to be here; this is the place to be.”

Today, Judy is focused on returning to the life she enjoys. She looks forward to going home, regaining her independence, and reconnecting with the activities she loves, including walking, quilting, spending time with friends, and attending church.

While her recovery continues, Judy knows she was supported every step of the way by a team dedicated to helping her heal and move forward with confidence.
